Subject: Assorted Stuff

First of all, this whole thread about the cover of Time magazine: You have
to remember that Time Magazine, like 90% of the media in the USA is on the
opposite end of the political spectrum from Newt Gingrich. I'm sure the
Uncle Scrooge hinted to on the cover was the Dickens character - it's
Time's attempt to make Newt look bad. U$ is thought of in America - when
he _is_ thought of - as the kindly Uncle to Donald and HDL,thanks to
Disney and Ducktales.

DON: Mike mentioned the Road Runner being in one of your stories. Being a
big Warner Brothers/Chuck Jones fan, I'm curious as to which story this is
from. I don't remember it. (I missed a lot of your early stories,
admittedly.)

DAN SHANE: U$ tie? I'm _so_ jealous. Every time I go into The Disney
Stores around here, I look for anything with Uncle Scrooge, but am always
disappointed. I did manage to get my hands on a stuffed U$ character once
when DuckTales was still on, but that's all I've seen, apart from a
rubber, semi-bendable U$ figure I got out of the Disney Store once.

Gladstone hasn't put out any regular issues of their comic books in two
weeks now. I"m in withdrawal. However, my local comic store did have
these packs of U$, Mickey Mouse, and DD comics. It's five (I think)
comics to a pack for about $5.35. Does anyone have any idea which issues
are on the inside of these packs? They show to covers of two, but never
mention what issues are on the inside. They all appear to be from
Disney's days of producing comics.

And whatever did happen to Bob Foster?

Publicity:
Finally, being the letterhack that I am, I'd be more than happy to write
a letter to Gladstone about this group. Per, I'll take into account what
you said about only using the "-request" address. What else do you have
to do? Just leave the subject heading blank and let the message be
"subscribe [your name here]", right? Also, which comic should I address
it to? There's a paradox here - I would think that U$ would have the
widest audience, but its letters column is fairly packed these days,
thanks to Lo$. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I would think DM is
the lowest seller, and thus easier to get a letter printed in, but then
less people would see it. Also, would any of the pros on this list (Don,
Dave, David - and I'm probably missing someone here - sorry) mind me
mentioning their names as being members of the list?

Thanks for the input.
