>HARRY:
Now waitaminit -- U$ didn't DIE in chapter 5 of the "Lo$". He
was...uh...well, caught between heaven and earth, like the characters in
lotsa movies like BETWEEN TWO WORLDS and especially STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN (aka
A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH). But he wasn't dead, only unconcious -- that was
why I made sure that stone conked him on the beam rather than him succumbing
to drowning, which is what the immediate threat was.

MIKE:
We are just beginning to think about the cover of my hardback
Finnish collection, and their first idea is the Ducks finding some sort of
trove of books with some Finnish titles (and I haven't even asked them what
the titles mean that they've given me). But we might do something entirely
different... though I still don't know how I could do any sort of scene that
would be anything but an abstract deal like the book finding. I mean, I
can't do scenes from any stories since there'll be too many.
And no, you're correct, I WON'T get a summer vacation this year.
Yes, I have spent too much time traveling Europe for the pleasure of Duck
fans. I must sacrifice my vacation in order to keep up with my page output
so I can keep my income up to a decent level. Vacations don't get pages
done, and these reprint collections don't pay royalties, so the nose must
stay to the grindstone.

MARK:
Yes, that CJ interview is indeed the one from nearly SIX years ago,
and it feels vaguely insulting to see someone using such an interview. It
took place before 95% of all my experiences with these Ducks -- before going
to work for Egmont, before these European tours, before any of that. But
hopefully we can get to work on a lengthy update. The original interview was
over 100 pages long (which we always expected would be pared down
considerably). They say it will be a two-parter??? Egad. They don't do that
very often! Perhaps they figger on the ancient interview being part one and
part two could be a new interview -- that would seem a logical idea. I'll
ask Gary Groth when I see him on COMPUSERVE.
