My word... an entire Digest about this new Italian Rosa "Lo$" book! And I
did not even know it existed (or was even planned) until Archontis
mentioned something about it during his visit, obviously under the
assumption that I must certainly know all about an entire book being
published that contained only my work. No, that's not how the "Disney
system" works. I never knew a thing about it. Now I'm trying hard just to
see if there's a way I can BUY a copy for myself! Pretty strange, eh? Eh,
I'm used to it by now.
No, "Last Sled to Dawson" is not a "Lo$" story. It simply has a flashback
in it, but all the important parts are set in the "present". And when I did
that story, I had no clue that I would be doing the "Lo$" about 5 years
later. "Lo$" stories either take place entirely in the past or are
introduced by a very brief framing sequence to reestablish for new readers
that this is an "untold story" from an earlier period.
But why didn't someone wonder why "The Dutchman's Secret" is in that book?
It's not a "Lo$" story in the very least way! It has no flashbacks to
$crooge's early life at all, not even a one-panel one! How do the editors
explain their inclusion of that one? (Well, even if I ever get a copy of
the book, I won't know that since my papa never taught me Italian.)
And Apostolis -- why do you keep insisting that I say my stories take place
in 1967 or 1966? I have never told anyone that! I say they take place in a
jumble of years in the mid 1950s. And I also regard Barks' stories, even
the later ones, to be set in this 1950's swirl. (Don't bother to
disagree -- it's simply how I explain my stories to myself. Others can make
their own decision.) But I have never told anyone that my stories are from
"1967".
