Regarding the supposed lack of Norwegian writers for Disney Comics:
Although there MAY be no Norwegian Disney Comic writers who are currently
residing in Norway all year long and currently writing stories for Disney
comics; there are two HALF Norwegians who are currently writing stories for
Disney - and one of them is even a final artist for Disney comics.
Regarding current Norwegian writers of Disney comics: Although there may be
none who currently reside all year long in Norway, there are two half-Norwegian
writers who currently contribute stories to Disney comics.
One is Gorm Transgaard, a prolific writer for Egmont. He is half Danish and
half Norwegian (his father being Norwegian). He lived in Danmark for the early
period of his story contibutions, but has lived in Nepal, India and Costa Rica,
as well as other exotic lands since 1995, while sending his stories to Egmont
(via e-mail?). Any additional info here, David?
The other is Jan Gulbransson, who is half Norwegian and half German. He writes
and draws stories for VNU (Dutch Disney Comics). Although he is very busy with
other Non-Disney cartooning projects using his own characters; he submits a few
stories to VNU each year, to keep open his position with them. His name Jan is
Norwegian, but I know many German males who also use the name Jan. I also know
several Germans named Sven (as in DCML's own Sven-Oliver Troschke), and Soeren
(as in DCML's own Soeren Schridde). In addition, Jan is a very common male
first name in the West Slavic nations (Poland,Czech Rep. & Slovakia). It is
even used in USA (note: Jan Berry - of Jan & Dean fame). Jan Gulbransson
resides in Norway 2 to 3 months each year. His family comes from eastern Oslo
Fjord, and Kragero (oe)and Grimstad. There is at least one Norwegian writer and
artist for Disney comics living in the country (at least, part time). Rob Klein
