<DIV><<I for one am hopeful that efforts to present new stories in Disney comics to the American audience will be succesful. Not only will the upcoming stories appeal to a wider audience than the rusty ol' Barks canon, it may even turn out as less mediocre than expected.>></DIV>

<DIV>Ole, never forget the "Brave New World" sequence from "The Tempest" -- no matter how "rusty" the Barks canon might seem to older readers, "tis new to" a whole new generation of kids. Several Barks tales were reprinted in the recently released TOON TREASURY OF CHILDREN'S CLASSICS and I, for one, was glad to see that. Gemstone, I believe, had a good mix of "old favorites" and interesting new stories. Boom! at least seems somewhat willing to look out for the long-timers through its announced handling of UNCLE $CROOGE and the occasional "classic" releases (though I do wish that they'd release the latter in a less expensive format).<BR></DIV>

<DIV><<We're talking about some of the worst Disney stories ever written. It's not a matter of being European, it's just that franky, they suck beyond belief.>></DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I'm willing to give them a fair chance to win me over. Given the (generally) positively received Shambor stories run by Gemstone, I actually am more optimistic about Wizards of Mickey than I am about Ultra-Heroes, with its passel of unfamiliar (to American audiences) characters/guises. </DIV>

<DIV><<I never got around to reading the last 4-5 Gemstone Uncle Scrooges and Walt Disney's Comics and Stories - and before Gemstone went under, i was seriously considering no longer buying these comics. Even though i've been reading them for over 40 years. Even though i find even the worst Dell Disney to be entertaining.>></DIV>

<DIV>I'd be interested to know what you objected to in these last issues.</DIV>
