disney-comics Packet for Gladstone?

Dear Folks,
I was hoping that I might be able to somehow connect
Gladstone's John Clark and Gary Gabner with our network, thinking that
this would be a fine way for us to give Gladstone ideas, thoughts,
etc. and perhaps suggest projects and stories for printing and
reprinting.
Unfortunately, Gladstone's employees have no access to E-Mail
so I had the idea of putting together an extra-special digest for them
which I'd send by old-fashioned mail, with our comments about their
issues alone included (not our trivia and Duck-History discussions).
I cut-and-pasted many letters from months and months and
months of archives and have the following packet prepared of
condensed, specialized letters in chronological order. I prepared
them on a word-processing file, and if you guys give me the go-ahead,
I'll send 'em as listed to John and Gary at Gladstone.
1. Rich Bellacera: Are Gladstones all going to be reprints?
2. James Williams: Why are Donald and Scrooge more popular
than Mickey, and how can this be changed?
3. Rich Bellacera: More outlets for Mickey needed in comics.
4. Torsten Adair: Reply to #2.
5. Harry Fluks: Gladstone's schedule, relationship between
comics and TV, and reply to #2 (part only).
6. Darin Reid: Why bi-monthly schedule?
7. Frederik Ekman: Gottfredson given inadequate exposure,
hence MM's unpopularity.
8. Per Starback: Discussion of Paul Murry (critical).
9. Andrew Krieg: Saying that he won't want to buy re-reprints
of what's been in Gladstone's earlier run, Barks-wise.
10. David Gerstein: My elaboration on #7.
11. Wilmer Rivers: Response to #7.
12. David Gerstein: My response to #8.
13. Andrew Krieg: Request for the Barks "ice taxi" story.
14. Harry Fluks: Mild criticism for long Goofy "historical"
stories, quoting some of Per's opinions, related to D&M #20.
15. Harry Fluks: Discussion of Mickey and Scrooge together,
criticizing Murry Ducks, related to USA #22.
16. Chris Lawton: Praise for new Gladstones, but mixed
reaction to D&M #19.
17. Per Starback: Questioning re-reprints.
18. Harry Fluks: Continuing discussion begun in #17.
19. Per Starback: Barks stories in albums vs. comics.
20. Torsten Adair: Pepping up Gladstone's distribution;
suggestions.
21. Frederick Ekman: Praise for long Goofy "historical"
stories, and suggestion of long Mickey/Scrooge Italian story.
22. Per Starback: Tony Strobl's death, and his "eclipse"
since Whitman's closure, as discussed in the Comics List Weekly.
23. Mark Semich: Discussing upcoming D&M #22; criticism for
Mickey and the Sleuth.
I took the liberty of cutting some letters slightly, or just
including the part relating to something Gladstone was doing. I tried
not to let my own opinions interfere -- note the letters of praise for
the Diaz Goofy stories and for Tony Strobl's work, neither of which
reflects my own opinion.
I didn't include any full letters from Don Rosa, and only two
brief quotes from him in other people's letters. This was largely,
because I suspected his editorial opinions which he gave us here on
a lot of moves by Disney and/or Gladstone weren't things he
necessarily wanted Gladstone to know he told us. He also gave a lot of
pre-publication info, and I didn't know if he wants Gladstone to know
he told us these things (is there some rule that before it's
solicited, it's not to be told publicly?). I wanted to maintain his
own privacy (not to mention everyone's, but here was an important
case).
If I get the go-ahead, I'll go ahead and print this thing out
-- the "Gladstone-related digest" -- and we can give Gladstone our
collective voice. If people want to write letters especially for me
to send to Gladstone, now's the time to do it, since I can add them to
this special dossier.
Good night, folks. Remember, I won't mail a thing unless you
guys agree that this is a good idea!!!!!
Sincerely,
David Gerstein
P. S. Per, can you please go back to sending me the digests?
The individual letters are, now that I'm mired in them again, a lot of
more confusion to deal with. So I'll live with the digests, big as
they are.
