(This was the message which started the whole gnome thing, but I
accidently sent it to Mike, instead of to the mailing-list.)

Coincidently last year a Christmas-story with gnomes in it (D9614),
was published in Donald Duck weekly. I don't know if they're the
gnomes you mean, because the Dutch publisher might have removed the
dialogue about their origin. Here's what the story is about:
Scrooge is celebrating Christmas on Bear Mountain, inviting the whole
family. During the story things are sabotaged on Bear Mountain. On a
certain moment Scrooge discovers that his money (kept in his barn on
Bear Mountain) is stolen. Grandma suspects something and starts an
investigation all by herself. She discovers that gnomes are
sabotaging everything. The gnomes did so, because every year they
celebrated Christmas in the barn and now Scrooge filled it with his
money.
When grandma reveals the mystery, she tells that you never must hurt
the feelings of those friendly gnomes. She tells that she once forgot
to give them a plate/saucer with pap (at Christmas!) and then
everything went wrong.
Reading this I think these gnomes *must be* the gnomes you mean. When
I first red the story, the whole gnome-thing didn't make sense to me.
Now it does, and it improves the story a lot to me. (Maybe also to
Harry. Does it, Harry?)
So in this case, the answer to your question is: No art changed, but
the dialogue as well.
MESSAGE FROM DANIEL TO DANIEL (SHANE):
======================================
What can we do to identify ourselves in a short way? Shall I call
myself "Daniel 2"? You were earlier on the list than me, so I think
you're the one to say. Please, let me know.
Greetings to all of you,
--- Daniel 2.
