I sent a new version of the Disney comics Database to Per. He will make it
publicly available (I hope).
A list of what you can find in the Database:
creators.legend
A file with all creators and their abbreviations. In [] some information
is added where to find work of the creator.
heroes.legend
A file with all heroes and their abbreviations. In [] some information is
added where to find a hero.
indexed-issues.legend
A list of the indexed issues in the Database. Currently, only American and
Dutch issues are listed.
indexers.legend
A list of people who indexed the data in the DcD.
The other files are in several subdirectories:
western
Files with information about the USA comics, published by
Western, under the Dell, Gold Key, and Whitman label.
gladstone-disney
Some of the most recent Gladstone issues have not been indexed yet.
netherlands
An updated version of the Dutch index. Information from 1990-present
and special books need an update; I'm working on that.
sweden
A totally new Swedish index by Lars Olsson, merged with the existing index
by Anders Engwall (and Kjell Crone). The merging process is not
completely done yet, so a lot of entries appear twice in the index.
Also, strange things like [hero:?] and [ser:CB(a)] can appear.
I'm working on this, but I didn't want to wait till I was finished
(this is taking a lot of time!)
denmark
A totally new Danish index by Ole Reichstein Nielsen, with a.o. a lot
of information about Italian stories.
There are a lot of things in this index that need to be cleaned up
(e.g. some unknown creator's codes are used). That'll have to wait till
the next version.
uk
A small British index.
creators
Files with cover and/or story indexes by the most important people
(in no particular order):
Barks, Jippes, Rosa, Van Horn, Lustig, Gerstein, Goria, Rawson, Gilbert,
Jonker, Rota, Verhagen, Heymans.
stories
Files with information grouped by "story code". For instance a list
of all Mickey Mouse newspaper stories (by Gottfredson and
others) in "ym.stories" (dailies), "ymgags.stories" and "zm.stories"
(sundays).
Especially the Italian file (i.stories) has grown considerably.
Also note the Rosa data in the German file (g.stories).
There are also a few directories with internal files and source files.
(The C-program sources have not been updated yet.)
Enjoy, and don't hesitate to give remarks or additions!
--Harry.
