Steven Rowe:

Not just comics. Reportedly, Western Publishing's Golden Books division
just ended its seventy-year relationship with Disney due to a similar
difficulty.
John Garvin:
>As an artist and writer, Stephan, I take great exception to this. It

>me that you are in the wrong line of work. You don't want to be a translator,
>you want to be a writer.
Much as any creator (myself included) would prefer his or her "pure" vision
to come through on every level, when a translator/rewriter/editor such as
Stefan sits down to a story, his priority, indeed his mandate, is to see
that the story can be read by and is enjoyable to the readers. A "pure"
translation may make a story readable, but making a translation readable
and *enjoyable* is a whole 'nuther kettle of sardines.
