Question: Gladstone Publishing and the Works of Carl Barks

This concerns the availability of certain Disney comics in the US ..

Does anyone know the fate of Gladstone Publishing and the Works of 
Carl Barks ?  Best I can determine is that Gladstone lost its licence 
around mid 1999 and another outfit -- Gemstone -- was going to 
acquire the necessary rights and continue publishing them.

Can anyone clue me in ?
