Interesting incident on eBay the other day: 
seller had five innocent looking Whitman / Gold Key
Scrooge and WD's Comics & Stories for sale.
Most of these are simply worth a dollar a piece,
and the first bids started accordingly. But 
to the great amazement of the seller the bidding
intensity picked up, passed $50 and then $100 (!) 
with three hours to go before auction deadline. 
More auction rivalry lead to $202.50 at hammer time. 

Explanation? The (in)famous Uncle Scrooge #179,
arguably fifty times rarer than #178 and #180... 
On this occasion the seller had no idea [I asked her], 
but obviously enough buyers had. (The magazine itself 
is not particularly spectacular; it reprints the 
Lemming with the Locket from US #9, which can be found 
easily and more prettily in other reprint editions.)
