----- FETHRY -----
I don't believe in the existance of Fethry Duck. But what IS Fethry Duck? He
is a character. Made up for fun. He doesn't have a personality, a privacy...
nothing! He appears only when the writer needs a funny character who messes
everything up. I don't believe that Donald has such a relative. Not at all.
MAYBE a character like this exists. MAYBE his name is Fethry. And MAYBE he
even lives in Duckburg. But it seems odd to me that he is Donald's cousin.
I'd rather believe that he is a small man-on-the-street. But the reason that
I don't believe in him is that he SO obviously is a made-up character, as he
ALWAYS does silly things that screws up the situation. Sorry, but there's no
room for Fethry Duck in Olaf Solstrand's Duck Family Tree.
Anyhow, of course there is a possibility that if he lives somewhere in
Duckburg (in that case he is much less clumsy than the Fethry we know). Duck
is a very normal name in Duckburg, and of course there may be a Fethry Duck
out there somewhere. I don't deny that.
----- GOGGEN SKRUELØS -----
This mail is mainly for you Norwegians out there. When Gyro Gearloose first
jumped into "Gladstone's terrible secret" on his pogo stick, Gladstone in
the Norwegian translation adressed him as "Goggen Skrueløs". But in all
Gyro-stories I've read after that, his name have been "Petter Smart". Does
anyone of you know why they chose to change this? "Goggen Skrueløs" is a
good name for "Gyro Gearloose", yet, "Petter Smart" has become a very
popular word of the Norwegian language. When someone does something genius,
they're often called a "Petter Smart". But since that word does not sound a
bit like "Gyro Gearloose", and the translation "Goggen Skrueløs" already
existed, what on earth made them change it to "Petter Smart"?
I prefer to call him Goggen Skrueløs.
----- BLUEPRINTS -----
The blueprints shown in VG was in Norwegian (except for one word, actually -
one place, the word "guard post" was used instead of "vaktpost"). They was
shown with black pen on white paper.
----- ROSA/BARKS RELATION -----
In the so-often-mentioned VG article, Don Rosa is adressed as "the pupil of
Carl Barks" (maybe that was a crappy translation). Is this true?
----- LAST SLED TO DAWSON -----
In the story "Last sled to Dawson", Scrooge says "This reminds me of the
time I was controlling dams in New Zealand". Is this a Barks referance, or
could that be a story yet-to-be-written?
I guess my story is somewhere in Denmark now... and I'm so excited that I
might explode anytime now...
