Bruce Hamilton at Gladstone Comics had those original first three penciled
pages from Barks. He thought it would be interesting if I completed the
story, so he gave me copies of those pages to trace and ink. I had no idea
how Mr. Barks planned to end the story, but I think they told me that it was
originally left uncompleted because Barks decided he "didn't feel like
drawing all those pages of mice and children" -- so whatever the original
ending was, it also involved lots of children doing something.

Nope.

That's the same, only different. It was the same in that there was some
missing (rather than never done) panels which Gladstone wanted me to fill
in... it was the same in that no one had any idea what the panels originally
depicted. It was different in that I did not actually ink any traced Barks
pencils.
I also once inked at least one Barks penciled-cover (copy) that was rejected
by Gold Key for the story, um, what was it?... "Lost Beneath the Sea" I
think.
