A Dutch fanzine reports that Daan Jippes has been working on an "8-page Gyro
story based on a Barks script". This must have been around 1986, the time
that Jippes was Gladstone's regular cover artist. So my theory is that
Hamilton asked Jippes to finish the Piper story. Jippes started doing that,
but never finished it (Jippes often starts things without finishing
them...). So finally, Hamilton asked Rosa to do the job in stead.

Don once told us here that he didn't know anything of a Jippes version of
this story. Maybe you know about it, Gary?

And one more detail: the Rosa version of the Pied Piper story was paid by
the Dutch publishers (and therefore has a code starting with H). Probably
because Gladstone wasn't in the position anymore to pay for newly made
stories when Don finished the story.
