Based on your description, it might be better to consider the
Wolf and Cub as a version of Zeb (Zeke's brother) and his son,
Li'l Wolf's cousin Izzy.

There's nothing to say that these characters weren't created
for this one occassion, and there's nothing official saying they
are Zeke & Li'l Wolf or Zeb & Izzy, it's just speculation based
who they seem to represent in the Disney universe. When April,
May & June made their debut on HOM, they had ponytails and looked
very different from their portrayals in the comics. HDL, also,
changed many times for various cartoon appearances, etc.
Fortunately, in their cases, we are informed directly by the
cartoon who they are. In other cases, we get to see characters
we recognize, but we aren't always explicitly informed of their
Disney identity through the actual cartoon, especially if they
are just hanging out in the background (such as when Grandma
Duck makes her various cameos).

Sure the animators cared enough to include them, but that wasn't
my point. Rather, *continued interest*, such as who appeared when
and where, are more the concerns or interest of fans than say,
Disney corporate or non-fans of the shows/comics/characters which
is why "unofficial" list are usually developed.
