A Qustion about Gyro

I think Gyro is one of the most enigmatic characters in Duckburg. He is 
obviously a genius, yet he is poor and lives in a shack. He doesn't have 
much of a social life, although I seem to remember a Tony Stroble story 
from the '70s where he had a girlfriend.

I wonder: Doesn't he know his own worth, or is it that he simply doesn't 
care about money or status?

What do the list members think? Does anyone know if there has ever been a 
duck story that dealt with this question?
