The first German Disney Comic was called "Micky Maus Zeitung" (=Mickey
Mouse Newspaper) and was published in Swiss in 1936 by the publisher
Bollmann who had previously published some Mickey fold-out books. The
covers came from the British Mickey Mouse Weekly and the issues
contained U.S. sundays with Mickey and Donald. 18 issues were printed.

In the first issue readers were asked to name the Disney characters. For
Donald Duck the name "Schnatterich" (=Quacker) was chosen.

The story behind the publication of the Micky Maus Zeitung is rather
interesting: Disney had money from license fees in Italy, which they
were not allowed to transfer abroad. So they used it to pay Mondadori to
print the Micky Maus Zeitung, sold it in Swiss and trensferred the money
from Swiss to the U.S.

The issues were not distributed in Germany, though. So the first German
Disney comic is the first issue of "Micky Maus" from 1951.
