Indeed, I remembered wrongly:

Excerpt from Klaus Spillmann interview (1982):
"Q: Did you write the script and did you do the pencils, inks and lettering 
all by yourself?

A: I did everything but the script."

However, I might have remembered this line:

"Q: [about newspaper strips]What did you do in the beginning - writing 
stories, doing pencils, inks?

A: I did pencil art only for strips."

So for comic books he did all, except scripting.
(Murry did José Carioca, Panchito and Uncle Remus for newspapers)
