OT WARNING: As over the past few years we've had so many interesting off-topic
discussions, due to the great variation in nationalities and cultures we have
represented on this list, I wonder if we shouldn't try to make a SECOND DCML
forum for NON Disney Comics Topics, or "Tangential Topics". The reason I bring
this up is because a lot of us are friendly and comfortable with a lot of the
other list members, and share a lot of interests together in many of the other
academic pursuits. In addition, from what I've seen, we seem to have a higher
percentage of well-educated, knowledgeable, rational(despite a bit of recent
raving)and well-meaning posters, than the average forum I've seen. We also
have little spamming and messages from hate-mongers. In other words, many of us
like to talk about other topics with these same people. We get into a lot of
discussions that really should not be
pursued on this forum. Yet, we are reticent to move our comments to private e-
mail, because that would restrict the conversations to 2 people, and cut out a
lot of pertinent commentary. I wonder if we could form a 2nd form, as an
adjunct to THIS ONE, where we could leave to hold tangential OFF-TOPIC
discussions. It couldn't be a completely unrelated forum, as most of us
probably wouldn't find time to go there, just to see if there are some topics
brought up. If we could have a separate forum within the framework of current
DCML master pages, when we see a topic pop up on the "MAIN BOARD", we could
say: "Hey Gang,-let's continue this on the "OFF-TOPIC Page". Then they would
all move the discussion to the other page, and the dcml comics-only readers
wouldn't be burdened with so much off-topic posting. I have forwarded this
message also to Per Starback, to get his thoughts on this. Per, I realize you
already spend much time on our behalf, and if such an endevour would be too
much work, we'll understand. Thanks,
Rob Klein
