As I recently stated (when you blinked), when I put Ludwig into my Family
Tree which I was constructing with Barks' help, he wrote to me that he was
"very sorry about the unfortunate creation of that character"... but I
didn't presume to tell him that I *liked* LVD, having seen him on TV since I
was 9, nor did I quiz him as to what he had against the character.

To also repeat: Egmont deemed him an "officially dead" character. I was
forbidden to use him, so I could only sneak him into panel corners when the
editor wasn't looking.

I also used him in "A Little Something Special".

Golly, I'm sorry! I would have VERY MUCH liked to meet you. I would have
drawn you another pic of Goldie. Or given you one of the prints of the cover
art from "Hearts of the Yukon" that I carry with me to shows. But as you
know I never use this forum for self-promotion so I never mention my
personal appearances (I was also in a Chicago suburb of Tinley Park 2 weeks
ago at a show). I generally only reply to direct questions on here. Someone
needs to periodically ask me where I'll be appearing... I might be getting
more invitations now that the Gemstone comics are here. For example, if
someone should ask me where my next appearance will be, I would say "at a
big show in Toronto on November 7-9 and then at the MidOhio ComiCon in
Columbus the weekend after Thanksgiving". Is Toronto close enough to you?
I was only contacted to appear at the St. Paul show less than a month ago,
so perhaps I was not on their earliest flyers, but I saw the last one they
sent out and I was mentioned prominently. And don't fuss at them for not
granting me (as our friend might say) proper "respect" -- they treated me
VERY nicely! They kept referring to me as "legendary" (which sort of worries
me... that must mean my gray hair makes me look old!). It was an *excellent*
show, very much in the lost spirit of the comic cons of 30 years ago. I hope
they invite me back again next year. One way to help that happen is to send
them a note and request it.

That's my job. I'm an anal retentive.
