Correct.

Wrong: the name of the city currently being the Chinese capital has always
been 北京: the spelling has not changed. And the change in transcription
system (Peking -> Beijing) doesn't have anything to do with the Mao/Mau
case: 毛 is transcribed as "Mao" using both systems.
