Question For Gary Leach

In a recent post, Don Rosa said that Gemstone and other publishers get 
stories from Egmont by using the story code (D98168, etc., etc.). I was wondering, 
how do you get these codes in the first place? Does Egmont give you a list of 
all the stories and their codes? Or do you use Inducks? I realize this is truly 
a niche question, but it was a random thought and I figured I should ask 
before I forgot it. Thanks!
