Lost in the Andes illustrates the huge landscape which habits the Carl Barks' stories; there is a certain feeling of vertigo in this adventure in the high mountains, and nature is imposing (the same could be said about other Barks' stories, amongst them: Land beneath the ground (1956), The Hall Mermaid Queen (1967), A Christmas for shacktown (1951) and so forth...in some situations nature in its huge side is symbolized by abysses which are opened suddenly under the ground, in some other scenes Donald knows the thrills to walk on the high mountains and some fragile bridges made of wood for crossing the summits; Lost in the Andes is full of these feelings and situations and certainly the story reveals an imposing world.
