Some that I can remember now:
- Pateta (Goofy) means "daffy", "silly", "fool".
- Irmaos Metralha (Beagle Boys) means "Machine-gun Brothers".
- Professor Pardal (Gyro Gearloose) means "Prof. Sparrow".
- Pao-Duro MacMônei (Flintheart Gloomgold) means "Stingy MacMoney".
- Joao Honesto (Brer Fox) means "Honest John".
- Ze' Grandao (Brer Bear) means "Big Jose".
- Margarida (Daisy) is the correct translation of the English first name and
the flower.
- Joao Bafodeonca (Black Pete) means "Jaguar-breath John"
- Escovinha/Fuinha (Catfoot/Scuttle) mean "Crew-cut"/"Weasel"
- Mancha Negra (Phanton Blot) means "Black Blot"
- Superpato (Paperinik) means "Super (male) Duck"
- Superpata (Parerinika) means "Super (female) Duck"
- Prof. Gaviao (Emil Eagle) means "Prof. Hawk"
- Esqualidus (Eega Beeva) means... "squalid" ;-)
- Peninha (Fethry Duck) means "Little Feather"
- Boca Mole (Fliplip) is a slang for "Talkative"
- Comprido (Sidney) means "Long","Tall"
- Robopato (Gizmoduck) means "Robot-Duck"
- Lampadinha (Gyro's Helper) means "Little Light Bulb"
- Urtigao (Hard Haid Moe) means "Big Nettle"
- Ted Tampinha (Idgit the Midget) means "Ted the Shorty"
- Kid Monius (Dangerous Dan McBoo) is a play-on-words that sounds
like "What-the-Devil"
- James Scond (James Ding) is a play-on-words with "James Bond"
that sounds like "James Hides"
- Grilo Falante (Jiminy Cricket) means "Talking Cricket"
- Silva (Neighbour Jones) is a very common Brazilian surname (like "Smith"
in English).
- Banze (Scamp) means "Uproar"
- Biquinho (Fethry's nephew) means "Little Beak"
