GARY WROTE:

Later, in 1985, Disney released "The Black Cauldron", an animated fantasy
film based on the novel of the same name by Alexander Kent. This movie ‹
which I've never seen, in spite of my fondness for the book ‹ soon ran afoul
of a wave of nervousness experienced by Disney over the use of the term
"black", and was for a time retitled "The Magic Cauldron".

AND I REPLY:

I believe you meant to credit Lloyd Alesander as the author of THE BLACK
CAULDRON, along with the other CHRONICLES OF PRYDAIN novels. And if you
love the book, don't ever see the film. It is the perfect example of
Disney's attempt at doing anything dark without really wanting to, much like
their stab at SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES.
