Donald Duck & Co #48
--------------------
The cover "describes" one of the stories inside the issue, for once
-- which makes me believe it could just be a coincidence...
Starts with a strip, as usual.
The lead story (D93413, 10 pages) is about Donald being the hero in
a lot of commercials and ads for some detergent. He gets very popular.
Too popular. The story is quite good, although the final gag doesn't
really have much effect, since it also was used earlier in the story
(in a slightly different form, though). Art by Vicar.
Second is a Grandma Duck story (D93460, 4 pages). No mice. Gus finds
some Roman antiques, which they deliver to a museum. Next day there's
an article about it in the newspaper, and a lot of people come out to
the farm and start to dig. Grandma gets very angry, but when she finds
out that the antiques were just some copies used in a film, she makes
the treasure hunters dig were digging is needed.
Not too bad.
The third story is about Donald and a plant which belongs to Daisy
(D92348, 4 pages). Daisy want Donald to look after the plant while she's
away. The first thing he do is destroying the plant (of course...).
Then he has to find a new plant.
The art isn't too bad, but the plot has been used _too_ many times.
The fourth story is Barks' The Masters of Melody (WDC 85). First published
in Norway in DD&Co #2 1949. I don't have that issue, unfortunately, but I
do have a copy of it. I really like this story.
BTW: Have any of you noticed the picture on the wall in the third panel on
the fifth page?
Then the final part of the Mickey Mouse story that started last week.
(D93063). I don't understand why people are complaining about Murry's
stories... Oops, this could be Xavi too. I think I would like him to
stay with the Mickey Mystery stories.
Last is a one-pager with Donald and HDL (KF 9.22.46).
The next week's issue is a double issue, which means one regular issue
and one extra issue packed together in a plastic bag. If anyone should
care -- the regular issue costs NKR 14,- , and the double issue costs
NKR 16,- (one USD = NKR 6.8405 (earlier today)).
