There is a 1-page gag drawn by Strobl where Scrooge can't remember an old
school friend. But when he gets a bank note, he says "I've had this note before".
Scrooge's explanation: "My memory of faces is bad, but I'll never forget the
serial number of a banknote!"
I know, Strobl is not canon, and it's just a gag, but it might "explain" that
Scrooge does not (or only vaguely) remember Glomgold.
