JOE WALKER -- even though I don't know if he'll see this.
The book you bought is the repackaging of a very common book of
10 years ago. This was one of the hokey phony "collectible" things that
Disney Comics put together, along with that release of the supposedly
sold-out, supposedly first-issue of the Russian Mickey Mouse comic and
that "boxed-set" of the first-issues of their comics. (In the case of
the Russian MM, it was the third, not the first issue, which they knew
American buyers would never know since there was no number on it -- and
if had been a "sell-out" in Russia, WHERE did these issues come from?
They were unable to get distribution in Russia, and to cut their losses
some Disney genius came up with the idea to bilk the silly American
"collectibles" louts who seem stupid enough to buy anything these days,
and also charge $10 for a $1 item.)
That reissue of "DD, 50 Years, etc." has no original autographs.
I saw a copy at a comic show once, and it's very obvious that the "Van
Horn" signature on the Family Tree is printed along with the art...
though Disney intended buyers to assume otherwise, the same they plan
on lots of buyers of those "limited edition animation cels" to assume
they are buying REAL cels and not phonies. I had been contacted for
advice on the contents of the tree and had sent them several sets of
data before they suddenly stopped asking questions. Obviously, someone
decided that MY idea of the Tree was far too obscure and they then
hired Van Horn to simply draw a tree with pictures of all the bird
characters from the Duck comics whether they were of any relation to
one another or not. In other words, their "Family Tree" shows Daisy and
Gyro and even Flintheart Glomgold, and no indication is given that any
characters are related -- just that they like to all climb trees
together.
Bruce and Justin? Who knows? The two Disney execs who come up
with these insulting concepts?
