JAMES:

Gladstone is publishing MIGHTY MORPHIN (no 'g') POWER RANGERS, indeed. The
property is actually owned and produced for TV by Saban Entertainment Inc.,
producers of the current X-Men animated series. Jack C. Harris is writing the
lead 16-page stories, with art by Al Bigley and Chic Stone (issue #1), while
Nicola Cuti is writing the 10-page backups with art by Joe Staton; cover by
Brett Blevins and (if he can manage while his house is covered in ice) Terry
Austin. Gladstone is angling for other properties from this company, but no
news yet on what they are.

TO ALL:

We also have completed and delivered to the distributor EEK THE CAT #1 (of 3),
and the comic book adaptation of the 20th Century Fox feature film flop
FREEKED (script by me and John Clark, art by Steve Stiles).

A new Disney comic is being launched by Gladstone, called WALT DISNEY'S COMICS
IN COLOR, a bimonthly anthology title that will feature different Disney
characters from issue to issue. While I make no promises, it is possible that
this will actually give us the chance to try a few new things (mebbe even a
new Mickey tale) without Disney throwing junior executives off the fabled
Tower in blind panic.

And, by the way, watch for thrilling new adventures of Beauty and the Beast,
Aladdin, and the Little Mermaid, coming soon from Marvel! I just wrapped an
8-page Marvel/Gladstone co-op ad for Overstreet's Comic Book Price Guide
annual, and it was simply too thrilling for one human being to stand!
Especially while trying to do an 8-page plus cover MIghty Morphin Power
Rangers premium comic for Fruit of the Loom (to be distributed with kids'
underwear, I presume). Anyway, the co-op ad will feature the first ever
incidence of William Van Horn inking Don Rosa, on a figure of Scrooge that is
part of a group illustration featuring the aforesaid, Donald (an old Barks
drawing), Mickey (pencilled by Russell Schroeder), Beast, Beauty, Aladdin, and
Sebastian the crab (the latter four coming, for all I can tell, from Disney
model sheet clipart). Bill nobly and ably inked the whole shebang for us. This
is a singular and not likely to be repeated occurrence, at least if I hope to
hold onto what's left of my sanity.

I guess Don's computer did crash, eh?
