There is mention of quiting Almanako because of low quality.I think the
magazines only problem is that it republishes fairly new stories and as
usual some of them are going to catch the readers' notice and others are
going to be forgotten.Almanako is not Komix and it is not supposed to
be.Stories like "The Ghost of the Great War" reprinted in the last issue are
fairly good and memorable.
Searching through some old issues of this magazine I found in issue
83,January 1998 one 19-pages story whose plot sounds familiar but there is
no mention of who is the story's creator or the time it was published. It was
reprinted under a greek title which means "Nightmare in the Old West".The
only known characters which appear in it are Magica De Spell,Ratface and
Scrooge McDuck. In the story Magica dreams she returns back in time to the
day Scrooge earns his first dime polishing shoes. The strange details of this
storie is that Scrooge earns his first time as a very young kid,Huey's age
or even younger, polishing a Wild West sheriff's boots in the goldminers'
times. He has already emigrated to the U.S.A alone fore some time.Magica
fails to obtain the dime and she wakes up.When I first found this story I
didn't understand why she would go after a coin than is not in Scrooge's
hand for decades and so it has no power at all.
This story is just a dream but the plot reminds me od Don Rosa's much
better "Of Ducks, and Dimes, and Destinies".Does anybody know which story this
is?
