I've read comments on this in the subsequent DCML digest (that word!),
and don't have much to add except that the trade paperback, in U.S.
comics practice, is either a collection of previously published
chapters of a miniseries, or of a story arc within an ongoing series,
or a wholly original work that goes longer than 64 pages (preferably
128 pages or more). Moreover, the comics tpb is usually at the same
trim size (height and width) as the standard U.S. comic book (standard
newsstand and prestige formats have virtually the same trim sizes),
particularly if they are collections.
But these are hardly hard and fast rules. And new terms for formats are
being coined all the time, often by companies looking for some kind of
"exclusivity" or "pride of place" on a specific trim size/page count,
so the confusion is only on the increase.
