Pigs is Pigs

Since I managed to cause so much fuss about Disney "witches" lets see if
the same can be had about Pigs?
First, let it be known that I am still in search of images of Percy Pigg
and his son Plato as they appear in more recent comics.
Now, on to Disney Pigs.
Perhaps I should preface this, because I am seeking this information for
obvious reasons and the parameters are typically characters that are
known to be "recurring."
Here is my inventory of Disney Pigs:
1) The Three Little Pigs a.k.a. Practical (Pete Pig), Fiddler (Cyril
Pig)) & Fifer (Marcus Pig)
Perhaps the best known of Disney pigs even though Disney didn't actually
originate them. They are among the longest running characters in Disney
history and while truly belonging to the Forest community, they have, on
occassion, interacted with the broader stable of Disney characters, even
being listed among the Junior Woodchucks. While they are living on
their own, they are typically depicted as youngsters, approximately the
same age as HDL. Their arch-nemesis is the Big Bad Wolf, of course.
2) Peter & Paddy Pig
Peter was also among the earliest recurring characters, but his
popularity dwindled long ago and he is seldom seen these days. He
started his Disney career, like Donald, in the film "The Wise Little
Hen." After that he was part of Mickey's gang, especially in British
annuals and promotional toys and items. In comics he briefly teamed up
with Donald as a News Reporter, but then he was lost to obscurity. He
did appear in the film "The Band Concert" along with another pig whom
I've been told was his brother named Paddy Pig. It is also known that
Peter is a cousin of TLP, thus Paddy would be as well. Peter and Paddy
have rarely been seen these days. Peter's last big appearance was in
"Who Framed Roger Rabbit," I believe. Paddy, as far as I know, has
never made another appearance.
3) Patricia & Percy Pigg (Peggy & Plato)
There is some discussion surrounding the spelling of Percy's last name,
and I have a British publication which even spells it as Pigge, but
giving it a double "g" is a good way of distinguishing this couple from
the rest of the Pigs in the Disney universe. Patricia seems to be more
important that Percy and she is typically listed "first" whenever they
are discussed. These two are perhaps Disney's longest married couple,
who while their fame has deminished greatly, they are still there,
always ready to pop up in someone's story... especially Patricia. These
two also have two children named Peggy & Plato. The children appear to
be around the same age as HDL.
4) The Pig Mayor (also called Mayor Hogg?)
While not typically a BIG player in Disney stories, he is quite
frequently seen. He is better known as the Mayor of Duckburg, and
Mickey hometown has been known to have a dogface mayor named Scott.
Whether this is still true, I don't know. Also, there are occasional
stories where the mayor of Duckburg is a dogface, and I believe Don Rosa
even designed a story showing the passing of the torch from the Pig to
the Dog mayor. Evenso, the most common mayor is still the Pig Mayor.
5) Herbert (Hog?)
The slow and dim and dirty friend of HDL. Not a whole lot is known
about him, though he has appeared on several occasions. I don't know
where I heard that his last name was "Hog" but maybe he is a relation of
the Mayor? Herbert's mother also appeared in one comic. Despite having
appeared only a few times he is pretty well known among duck fans.
6) Argus McSwine (a.k.a. The Pig Villain)
A creation of Carl Barks and has be very inconsistently named in each of
his appearances. He has been granted the name Argus McSwine by the List
community, though I'm not sure he has used that name more than once. He
is a dastardly depicted character who has an extreme animosity toward
Donald, almost to the same level as Neighbor Jones. And, while they may
not be actual next-door neighbors, apparently Argus does live in the
same neighborhood as Donald. Argus has other relatives whom he has
teamed with against the Ducks also.
7) Raymond "Ruffy Razorback" Hog
Another cousin of the TLP, though much older, probably the same age as
the BBW. Raymond has appeared a few times in defense of his little
cousins, otherwse he's pretty obscure. Simply being another member of
the Forest community.
8) Muscles McGurk
Very much in he same vein as Neighbor Jones, Muscles McGurk is Mickey's
next door neighbor who seems to dislike everything about Mickey.
Currently he is not tracked in the INDUCKS though I know he's made
several appearances. If anyone knows what he is called in their native
language I would love to collect that information as well. So far I
only know his English name and I believe I have a story with him in
Italian, too. As far as anything else pertinent, I don't know anything
about him. I believe he also appears as a villain in David's "Egg
Collector" story.
9) Lardello (Lardy)
While there's ALWAYS been a young pigboy member of the Junior Woodchucks
I don't believe he was ever consistently acknowledged until the Italian
GIOVANI MARMOTTE series came out. Here he is a regular and prominent
member of the cast. However, he is often depicted as a stereotype
(chubby, gluttonous, etc.). Does he have a more complete name and
possibly an English equivalent?
10) Zipp & Zita
While not truly Pigs in the same sense as any of the above, they are
still Pig-like. This brother and sister duo are actually aliens who
come from another dimension. They have visited Scrooge and the Ducks on
a couple of occassions. They are not evil, but were once presented as
gifts to Magica. I don't have any of their stories or I would share
more about them.
11) Cintia Paiva (Mr. & Mrs Paiva)
The little pig-girl who lives next to Fethry and is a good friend of
Dugan's. I don't know much about her.except what she looks like.
12) Pat
A young pigboy and one of the team members of Morty & Ferdie's Riverside
Rovers.
13) Benzino Gasolinni
Not really relevant since he was a DUCKTALES obscure character, but he
did appear several episodes of the series. He was a millionaire racecar
driver. That's about the extent of his importance... just that he was
among the uppercrust and travelled in the same circles as Scrooge. I
don't believe he ever appeared in a comic.
14) Piggy
At least that's the name I know he had. He was probably called by
various other names, too. He was Grandma Duck's main pig on her farm.
Once again. This is what I BELIEVE I know about these characters. If
you have more accurate information or even more information than what
I've listed, please feel free to contribute.
Also, if you know of any other recurring Pig characters please advise.
One-shot characters are not as relevant unless they are, perhaps,
related to any of the above characters.
Thanks,
Rich Bellacera
