Scrooge vs. Euro

Regarding the question of Scrooge's exchanging his old European currencies for
Euro: Most of the comments made both on the YES side AND the NO side have
merit. After considering all the factors, I believe McDuck would do a little of
both. We cannot consider him to have "died" before the Euro, as some of the
current publishers will, or have already used Euro as Duckburg's new monetary
unit (not so?).

I believe that the cash in his money bin is a very, very small fraction of his
overall wealth (much of which is on paper, in stock, bonds, bank
accounts,etc.). He is so very, very wealthy, that he can afford to lose some
value to continue swimming in his money. However, he has money from all over
the world. I don't remember him having such an attachment to specific bills or
coins of the various European currencies. I believe that he can "have his cake
and eat it, too". He would likely exchange most of his European paper bills,
for Euro credit in banks. He would only keep special paper bills that had
significance (i.e. the first bill he earned from each country in each
denomination). He would keep all the coins, and add to them new Euro coins.
Then, later, after the bulk of the population has turned in their old
currancies,he would spend a very small amount of new Euro, to purchase BACK all
the Euro bills which would now be worthless, and would cost some money for
their governments to destroy. Scrooge would offer to take the worthless bills
AND Coins, of the hands of the governments, saving them the cost of doing the
destroying. It would probably cost more in manpower to melt down the coins,
than the end product metal would be worth.

Perhaps Scrooge might even be able to KEEP all the bills and coins for FREE,
AND actually EARN MORE MONEY to do so, by winning the paid contract to dispose
of the bills and coins. He would, thus, get all his money back and that of all
the other people; PLUS, earn more in doing so. He would now have even more
wonderful money to smell and swim and bathe in, and be the richer for it!!

THAT last scenario is MY VOTE for outcome to this question!!!!It fits Uncle
Scrooge best!!!
