Subject: questions to Don Rosa, ...
>>>>In this publication, bombie's hair is white, so i'm asking a question to
don rosa : in the
two first publications of your story in france, in the illustrations, and in
barks' story,
his hair is black; in all of the publications, scrooge says that it's a
*white* sponge (althought the pictures shows it black or brown)... so, is
the hair intended to be black
or white?
Why do you say Bombie's hair is black in Barks' original story? It was pure
white, white as snow. And that's the same way I made it in my story.
Please don't think that I have the least bit of control over how my stories
are colored. I often suppose that the colorists are familiar with basic
elements of the stories, but as near as I can tell, they are not even
reading the story they are coloring (just as in the instance you mention
above), so if I want *anything* to be colored a particular color, I must
have it written right into the margin of the original art, or it never
happens. (And even then, most colorists will still never add dark or moody
colors to tombs lit by a candle, despite my pleas... still coloring them
like high noon in a desert... that's why I must spend so much extra effort
adding *all* of that cross-hatching,,, if I want a scene to have moody
shading, I must put it there myself in black ink or it won't be there. The
only place they add moody coloring is in the Italian and Greek editions. And
American, of course, when we have any.
>>>Another question to Don : On panel 2, Huey, dewey and louie tell that
gyro has had his
job for 51 yrs... what is the exact number in the original script,
More sabotage, eh? (sigh) What a stupid change to make in the script!!! How
could that be true when the story shows that Donald, not to mention the
Nephews, were *present* in the flashback when Gyro's shop opened! So that
makes Gyro and Donald about 85-90 years old and the nephews are about 65?
Are you certain they made that extraordinary blunder in the script
translation? That might take the cake for the worst one ever.
My original script clearly said that the shop had been open only ONE year.
Slight difference... 1 year as compared to 50. Now it looks like there's
even a translator who doesn't read the story.
