Kriton:

"Leonard" is John's name as given at birth, but, according to him, as 
long as he can remember his family have called him "John", and as far 
as family, friends, associates and John himself are concerned, that's 
his name.

On the other hand, John considers Leonard a perfectly good name in its 
own right, and wouldn't mind at all if you called him that. He even 
finds "this Clark guy" rather amusing.
