Probably because most Mickey stories with Morty and Ferdy do not imply that
they live with Mickey full time  -- they are in some stories, but not most
Mickey stories, implying that when they are seen, they must just be visiting
Mickey -- which further implies they must have a parent or parents they
spend most of there time with.  HDL are always with Donald  --  implying
they have no other, more primary caregiver.
