Bill Pearson's Lettering of Titles

        Dear Folks,

Don Rosa said he found another error in Gladstone's version of "The
Duck Who Never Was":

"I hadn't noticed it, but now that you point it out -- YES, yet
ANOTHER error on the letterer's part in that "Duck Who Never Was" story.
He left off the $#@&# title."

I have NEVER seen Bill Pearson letter the title for a story. He
ALWAYS leaves it off, even if space has clearly been left for it.
Sometimes he'll enlarge a character's name to obliterate the space that was
there. For example, he lettered my Verhagen dialogue, "The Hoard at the
Rainbow's End." There was space for the title on the original page, and I
even indicated that it was to be written in an arc-shape like a rainbow.
But when the story was published, Donald's name was made much larger than
on the Dutch printing, and the title was only in the letter column...

        Best to all of you,

        David Gerstein
