Subject: DuckTales

There has been some discussion lately about Duck Daze and its possible
affects on Disney continuity. But one of the more interesting things I've
heard from it has been the mentions of DuckTales. Forgive me since I am
new to this group, but was the general opinion of it as low as I'm
inferring from some of the comments?

DuckTales is what brought me into the Carl Barks universe and all the rest
of the Disney-related titles, for which I am insufferably pleased. I
admit many DuckTales stories 'based on Carl Barks' stories actually
deviated quite a bit from the stories, but they didn't actually go so far
as to demean the duck characters, did they? As a cartoon buff, DuckTales
was a great - and groundbreaking - show. It proved that you could do a
stripped show (65 episodes, shown 5 days a week) without sacrificing
quality, for one. It led to the rest of the Disney Afternoon, which
continues to this day. It didn't redefine the characters the way everyone
(including me) fears DuckDaze will. Did it? The Beagle Boys could not
have been done in animation without the different numbers and qualities.

Jorgen: You mentioned back on November 9th that the Disney Afternoon shows
are not very popular in Scandinavia. I have a couple of question about
that, if I may. One: Do you get them in the original English, or are
they dubbed in a Scandinavian language? How are/were they shown? 5 days
a week? Weekly? Afternoons or mornings?

Bev : And don't forget American football legend Rosey Grier! (And I
though finding someone named Augie was tough...)

Just to bring this back to Disney _comics_: I just finished reading the
new Uncle Scrooge Adventures with the original Carl Barks U$ tale about
the Golden Fleece for the first time. (I know this is heresy, but I've
forgotten the proper title.) It's a great story. Are the Harpies
patterned after someone in real life? They all look alike and like they
are caricatures of someone. Maybe it is just that I am not used to Barks
drawing a human. I don't know. Don: Did you hide "D.U.C.K." on your
cover? I couldn't find it. And have they ever lettered over it?
