Except in the event that the point of view being held is considered by
the holder to be the only valid one, and all others are to be ignored,
suppressed, derided, etc. - in short, held in contempt. That turns a
point of view into dogmatism, which cannot be held as merely a personal
opinion and is therefore very much subject to the judgement - and
validation - of others.
To be fair, most of what I've at first taken on this list to be
contempt turns out only to be someone getting carried away about
something - an excess of enthusiasm, really. All part of the fun, when
you get down to it.
