seen some of the final Whitman-label editions from the 1980's.  I used 
to buy them (sight unseen) in a sealed plastic bag, 3/59¢ in the 
basement of Woolworth's.  And as for publishing quality, that's just 
about what they were worth.
	HOWEVER, we ducks&mice-addicted Americans are supplied by the likes of 
Gladstone, Another Rainbow and approved successor Gemstone.  I have  
absolute
  trust in their integrity and top-of-the-line skills, having been 
supplied by Gladstone since before the first issue (but that's another 
story.)  I wish they could sell closer to Woolworth's prices, but you 
just don't get all your wishes.  What we've got on the flip side of 
integrity in the US comic business is of course those banes of society, 
the fabled Disney Lawyers.
	As to other publishers and their ethics, I'm going to guess some of 
these guys are translating it all themselves to save the cost of having 
to pay even a schoolkid.  Nothing in the world of business requires 
enterpreneurs to sell quality, especially if their products that lack 
integrity sell enough anyhow.
	As to amateur translating, in early 70's, I bought a few Disneys in 
Mexico.  Using 1 year of college spanish, I tried translating.  I 
remember finally settling on "Gyro Crazy-Easy-Gear".  He doesn't seem 
to mind that I still call him that--
