Gyro's cousin or french translation mistake?

in the french version of W DD   35-05 appears a character who looks a bit 
like gyro but with a really long beak, and is translated as Gyro's cousin Theo, 
but I wondered if this character was actually Gyro or his cousin in the 
original version...
